What do Budget, Boxes and Beach have in common?

Playa del Rey, California
I'm still waiting for a correct guess....

Kim, a June bride-to-be, wrote "My guess is a new website and/or blog." Actually, a modestly updated site is in the works but that's not the big news.

Any other guesses? You have all the clues you need. Last chance!

Sail Away!

Newport Beach, California
Leah and Oscar wanted to do something different for their engagement session. Since they loved the water they decided to have their photos taken on a sailboat.

Leah was as comfortable walking around the moving boat as on land. Not too much a surprise since she was on the sailing team in high school and even taught sailing to kids one summer. Oscar got his sea legs pretty quick, too.

I on the other hand kept thinking I'd end up overboard at some point. But I love a challenge - especially when it involves a new photo adventure!

We couldn't have had a better day. Calm waters and the bluest of skies.

This reminds me of the old Nautica perfume ads.

Leah wore a silver starfish necklace.

Time to head back to the dock.

"Come, cuddle your head on my shoulder, dear,
Your head like the golden-rod,
And we will go sailing away from here
To the beautiful land of Nod"
Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Thank you Leah and Oscar for a great time! We'll see you in a few weeks for your wedding!!!

And many thanks to their friend Laura and her parents who took us out on their boat.

Observations After Dark

Los Angeles, California
I met up with fellow photographers Rachael and Vic at the Griffith Park Observatory. I also met Vic's sister and brother-in-law who treated me to the planetarium show.

The Observatory is one of my favorite places in LA, not only because my husband proposed to me in Griffith Park, but also because of the gorgeous views. When Michael moved to LA it was still undergoing renovation and we both anxiously awaited its opening.

While we were talking outside, an LAPD helicopter flew overhead.

After quickly getting a few wide shots I thought I'd zoom in on the chopper.

Oblivious to the world around them, a couple embraces just as the city lights start twinkling.

The sky was simply gorgeous!

Los Angeles in all her splendor.
